Ziad Halwani set up his workshop in the back of a blue van, in the middle of the Mashatel Mahfouz plant nursery in Beirut, where he is reviving the craftsmanship of knife making.
During our visit, we explored the ins and outs of this fascinating craft which has existed for thousands of years.
Ziad employs a variety of metalworking and woodworking techniques using up-cycled material. The final custom-designed products are not only functional tools but beautiful pieces of art.
