Studies show that there are around 40 000 Alzheimer’s disease cases in Lebanon.
Last year, the Alzheimer’s Association opened two day-care centers, first of their kind in the country!
Most of the time people with dementia stay at home and are socially isolated. These centers are a safe place where people living with Alzheimer (from early to mid stages of the disease) can participate in educational, entertaining, musical and physical activities. Therapy sessions and health services are also available as well as dietitians and beauticians.
The centers follow a non clinical approach, helping improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people with dementia as well as their caregivers, through social, cognitive and physical activities.
