Rare footage from the 1974 Lebanese Syrian rally

Last week our attention was directed towards this amazing video from the 1974 Lebanese / Syrian rally where Joe Hindi (Lebanese rally driver) came in first place. This short documentary is really something. The rally itself was no walk in the park and reminds us a bit of the Dakar Rally. The fact that this …

Lebanon makes it on Top Gear’s website.

We recently read this article on Top Gear’s website about Lebanon’s own Roger Feghali’s epic hill climb in Falougha. The fact that Top Gear picked up on this is just huge! Some of you may not be into the whole motor sport thing but the article is great fun, spiced up with that Top …

People are always very surprised to hear that we have some decent surfing here in Lebanon. Our local surfer friends are constantly on the look out for the next wave to come in. There are surf spots in a few different locations up and down the coast. In Jiyyeh there is Mustafas A-Frame which is located south of Beirut. Who needs street addresses when you have land marks?

Here is a nice piece by Jenny Gustafsson circulating the web that is a reminder of another bright and unique side of our city. If you have lived in Beirut, you know that taking a left at the yellow building where the red door is, and another right at the hairdresser a few meters down the street, will get you to your friends house. It is a system that has always worked, we like it, it is a conversation starter. Read the full article here...

Nicolai Gerebtzoff is a Luthier in Lebanon

Most of us take a lot of small things for granted. We listen to a lot of music, without thinking too much about the instruments used during the creative process. Here is a beautiful short about Nicolai Gerebtzoff who is hand crafting his own guitars in Lebanon. It is a grueling process that requires years to perfect. …
