A few years ago, Al Jazeera shared this report on the Sharkass family tradition of soap making that dates back to 1803 in the northern city of Tripoli.
The soap making art has been handed down with passion from generation to generation.
We should safeguard craftsmanship and encourage artisans to continue to produce craft and to pass their skills and knowledge onto others. This is how we preserve tradition and (intangible) cultural heritage.
